Celebrating Lives with Reverence and Compassion
Losing someone we love is never easy.
At a time when there is already so much to think about, my role is simply to walk alongside you — listening carefully and helping shape a service that truly reflects the person you are saying goodbye to.
Eternal Rest is the name of the company through which I offer my work as a funeral celebrant. It expresses something of the hope many people hold for those whose lives we remember, whether they come from a religious background or not.
Working alongside your funeral director, I help families create funeral services that are personal, meaningful and respectful of the life we are there to honour.

Every life is different. Every farewell should reflect that.
I conduct a range of funeral services and will work with you and your funeral director to shape something fitting and appropriate.
Services may include:
• Crematorium services
• Burial services
• Memorial services
• Graveside services
• Interment of ashes ceremonies
As part of preparing the service, I help shape the tribute and reflections shared during the ceremony, working with you to ensure your loved one’s story is told with warmth and care.
For those who wish to reflect on their own wishes in advance, I also offer a free booklet titled “Saying Goodbye”, designed to gently help people think about the kind of farewell they might one day wish for.

When we meet, the most important thing is simply listening.
Families often share stories, memories and small details that help bring someone’s life into focus.
More often than not these conversations take place face-to-face, allowing time and space for families to speak openly, share memories and reflect together.
From those conversations I carefully shape a service that reflects the person who has died and the people gathered to remember them.
On the day itself my role is to guide the service with calmness, warmth and quiet confidence, helping create a space where memories can be honoured and shared.

I’m Martin and I’ve spent more than 25 years in ministry accompanying people through many of life’s most important moments — from baptisms and weddings to the tender moment of saying farewell to someone we love.
Over time I found myself especially drawn to helping families honour the lives of those who have died.
Each service is shaped around the person being remembered and the memories shared by those who knew them best.
My role is simply to help create a space where those memories can be spoken, heard and carried forward.

After the service many families write to share a few words of thanks.
“During a very difficult time you took time to listen to our stories and memories and helped us create a service Dad would have been proud of.”
“The service was so personal and your words were both comforting and uplifting. Everyone commented on what a lovely service it was.”
“Your tribute was touching, sensitive and captured their personality perfectly.”
“The service was so personal it felt as though you had known Mum — and us — for years.”

I work alongside families and funeral directors across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, including Alfreton, Barnsley, Chesterfield, Mansfield and Sheffield, as well as the surrounding areas.
If you would like to ask a question or speak about arranging a service, you are always welcome to get in touch.
You are welcome to make contact whether you already have a funeral director in place or are simply beginning to think about arrangements.
